ATHLETICS ASSISTANT - CANADA

JOB PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role support the seamless functioning of the

Athletics Department by delivering comprehensive administrative support. Key

responsibilities encompass setting-up equipment for games and practices, organizing

team uniforms and coordinating travel arrangements, athletic events, and scorekeeping.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support the setup of materials and equipment for practices, games, and tournaments

  • Ensure the safety of athletic facilities, proper storage of equipment, and promptly arrange for necessary repairs as required

  • Assist in organizing school athletic events, collaborating with coaches and referees, and occasionally participating in coaching school teams

  • Establish effective communication with other departments to relay information about upcoming events, including coordinating communication materials for parents, students, and staff

  • Supervise students utilizing the Athletics Centre, ensuring their safe and proper use of equipment

  • Coordinate team travel arrangements, coordinating documentation, registrations,

  • accommodations, buses, payments, and overseeing invoice processing

  • Update the Athletic web pages by posting game results, news articles, and photographs

  • Support award ceremonies and athletic events, including setup and teardown



QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


  • Post secondary education in a related field coupled with 2-3 years of relevant work experience

  • NCCP, personal training certification, Can-Fit pro, CSCS or equivalent certification an asset

  • Strong ability to work as part of a face-paced and collaborative team

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with students, parents and teachers cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously, patiently and with discretion

  • A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a “How can I help?” attitude

  • Proficiency in a technologically rich environment, and skilled in Google

  • Workspace is considered an asset

WORKING REQUIREMENTS:


  • The York School Campus, Toronto

  • Occasional evening, overnight and weekend travel for school trips required
