Job description:


The Visual Arts Teacher delivers engaging, high-quality learning programs across junior and senior secondary levels, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and academic

excellence within the Visual Arts Key Learning Area. The role involves designing and implementing innovative, curriculum-aligned programs in accordance with IB and

NESA requirements, as well as planning, assessing, and reporting on student progress. The successful applicant will create inclusive and differentiated learning experiences,

contribute positively to a collaborative College culture, uphold the College ethos, support student wellbeing, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement of teaching practice.


Remuneration:


$94,155 – $133,009 per annum (FTE 1.0), in accordance with the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025. The commencing salary will be determined based on recognised prior teaching service, and NESA accreditation status.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver lessons in line with the IB and NESA curriculum.

  • Plan, assess, and report on student progress in accordance with College guidelines.

  • Conduct practical investigations safely and effectively.

  • Differentiate learning to meet individual student needs.

  • Integrate digital technologies to enhance learning.

 

Curriculum and Assessment:


  • Design and evaluate teaching programs using relevant data.

  • Develop learning materials that reflect current scientific understanding.

  • Support students in internal and external Visual Arts assessments.

 

Professional Engagement:


  • Engage in professional development and College-based training.

  • Collaborate with Visual Arts department staff and across faculties.

  • Maintain teaching accreditation and meet NESA/IB standards.


Pastoral/Co-curricular & Islamic ethos:


  • Contribute to the wellbeing and support of all students.

  • Participate in College co-curricular and community events.

  • Promote student participation in activities and competitions.

  • Contribute to Islamic events and planning

  • Abide by the schools Islamic ethos including dress code and respect

  • Attend school Islamic events that are implemented in the school calendar

 

Selection criteria:


Essential


  • NESA-accredited teacher with teaching experience.

  • Strong understanding of IB/NESA curriculum and pedagogy.

  • Demonstrated classroom management and communication skills.

  • Commitment to Islamic values and the College’s mission.

  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance.


Desirable


  • Experience teaching in IB World Schools (MYP and DP Arts).

  • Familiarity with inquiry-based and STEAM learning.

  • Postgraduate qualifications in education or Visual Arts.
