Brief Description of Position:
The main role of the classroom teacher is to maximise student learning and development through the planning, preparation and teaching of the curriculum to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers teach a range of student abilities and classes and are accountable for the effective delivery of their curriculum. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection in order to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning. Classroom teachers assume roles beyond the classroom in endeavouring to maximise students’ learning.
These roles include working collaboratively with colleagues and other members of the school community, and communicating with parents and care-givers. The classroom teacher’s contribution to the school goes beyond the classroom. They participate in the development of the school policies and programmes and assist in the implementation of school priorities. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their teaching duties.
Teacher Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Licensure: Valid teaching license/certification in the relevant subject or grade level.
Experience:
Previous teaching experience in elementary education.
Experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Teaching & Learning:
Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in accordance with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
Foster critical thinking, inquiry, and creativity in the classroom.
Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing feedback to support growth.
Classroom Management:
Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
Maintain consistent routines and behavioral expectations.
Promote student independence, responsibility, and social-emotional development.
Planning & Collaboration:
Collaborate with colleagues to plan units of inquiry and integrate subjects effectively.
Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings and professional development.
Contribute to curriculum development and improvement initiatives.
Communication & Reporting:
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and wellbeing.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
Prepare progress reports and contribute to parent-teacher conferences.
IB & School Community Engagement:
Promote the values and philosophy of the IB and the school.
Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and community initiatives.
Support student-led initiatives and inquiry-based learning projects.
