Brief Description of Position:


The Village School is seeking a highly qualified High School Psychology Teacher to deliver rigorous and engaging instruction that develops students’ understanding of psychological theory, research methods, and the application of psychology to real-world contexts.


The successful candidate will:


  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned to IB and/or AP standards (IB experience strongly preferred).

  • Develop students’ understanding of core approaches in psychology (biological, cognitive, sociocultural) and research methodology.

  • Teach students to critically evaluate research studies, analyze data, and construct evidence-based written arguments.

  • Support students in the completion of internal assessments (e.g., experimental research investigations).

  • Use formative and summative assessment to guide instruction and provide timely, meaningful feedback.

  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.

  • Maintain high expectations for academic progress, classroom discourse, and behavior.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues regarding student achievement and well being.

  • Participate actively in professional learning and contribute to the wider school community.

  • Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values in all interactions.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Psychology or a closely related field.

  • Teaching certification or equivalent professional training.

  • Strong pedagogical understanding of biology instruction, laboratory design, and assessment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in secondary-level biology.

  • IB and/or AP experience preferred (e.g., IB Biology SL/HL, AP Biology).

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth.
