MISV is a student-centred international school committed to developing caring, knowledgeable and independent individuals through a high-quality International Baccalaureate (IB) education in a challenging, diverse, and supportive environment. MISV is an authorized IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), and was established in January 2022 to meet the needs of the growing number of expatriate families coming to Västerås for work or study and requiring an international education for their children. MISV is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate educator to join our small team of hard-working and caring teachers who are united in

their commitment to make the world a better place. We are looking for one teacher to fill the role of IB MYP Individuals & Societies/PYP PSPE teacher. We are interested in candidates who:


  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to embrace change, a strong desire to collaborate, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

  • Deliver engaging and inquiry driven MYP and PYP classes, ensuring the appropriate IB curriculum framework is delivered to the highest possible standards.

  • Maximise learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom, implement varied teaching styles and resources and provide meaningful feedback to students to support their learning journey.

  • Implement formative and summative assessments aligned with IB standards.


We ask you to be:


  • A caring and passionate teacher who can inspire and engage students while providing rigorous instruction.

  • Experienced in teaching the relevant subject areas for students aged between 11 and 16(Individuals and Societies) and 5-11 (PSPE).

  • Able to use technology effectively and to integrate technology meaningfully into teaching and learning.

  • Committed to innovating and changing teaching practices in response to best-practices, students' needs, and educational research.

  • Experienced in supporting both English Language and EAL students.

  • Committed to developing 21st-century (ATL) skills amongst students within a subject area.

  • Experienced in effective assessment practices and designing learning experiences that supports learning and skill mastery within the subject.

  • An exceptional class manager with strategies that maintain an effective learning environment, provides students with dignity, and builds student self-esteem.

  • Willing to implement school initiatives and engage in school improvement.

  • Supportive to colleagues with their professional growth.

  • An excellent communicator with interpersonal skills that reveal high levels of emotional intelligence and emotional agility.

  • Willing to work across all year groups to support our students’ learning journey.


Qualifications:


  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field

  • Recognised Teacher Qualification/Certification e.g. QTS/Lärare Legitimation/BEd/PGCE/PGDE (or equivalent).

  • Exceptional subject knowledge in teaching in English.


Assets:


  • Understanding and knowledge of IB programmes (experience teaching in the PYP, MYP and/or DP).

  • Recent IB MYP Individuals and Societies training.

  • Training and/or experience in teaching EAL students.

  • Ability to teach multiple subjects.

  • Teaching experience in an international context or working in an internationally minded workplace.

  • Experience in collaboratively planning lesson plans, units of instruction, and interdisciplinary assessments.
