Description of Position:
Planète Montessori International School (PMIS) is seeking an enthusiastic, reflective, and experienced educator to join our growing Middle Years Programme as an IB MYP English Language & Literature and Arts (Drama) Teacher. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences in MYP English Language & Literature and MYP Arts (Drama), inspiring students to become confident communicators, thoughtful readers, creative writers, and expressive performers. Working within a collaborative international environment, the teacher will design concept-driven learning experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity, communication, and intercultural understanding while fostering the attributes of the IB Learner Profile. As PMIS continues its journey towards MYP authorisation, the successful candidate will play an important role in the continued development of the Middle Years Programme, contributing to curriculum development, assessment practices,collaborative planning structures, and the school's MYP authorisation journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Teaching:
Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging learning experiences aligned with the IB MYP English Language & Literature and MYP Arts (Drama) subject guides.
Develop inquiry-based, concept-driven units that promote conceptual understanding and authentic learning.
Integrate the IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into everyday classroom practice.
Develop, review, and maintain high-quality MYP unit planners and curriculum documentation.
Foster students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, presenting, and dramatic performance skills.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Integrate technology purposefully to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
Assessment and Student Progress:
Assess student learning using the IB MYP assessment criteria, providing meaningful formative and summative feedback.
Monitor student progress and use assessment evidence to inform future planning.
Encourage students to reflect on their learning and develop increasing independence.
Maintain accurate assessment records and prepare reports according to school expectations.
Student Wellbeing:
Create a safe, inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
Promote the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and international-mindedness.
Support students' academic, social, emotional, and creative development.
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Collaboration and Professional Practice:
Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, interdisciplinary learning experiences, and assessment practices.
Participate in curriculum planning, moderation, departmental meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
Contribute positively to the school's MYP authorisation journey.
Engage in professional learning opportunities, including IB professional development.
Support the wider life and mission of PMIS.
Co-Curricular Responsibilities:
Lead or support at least one co-curricular activity.
Organise and support drama productions, performances, assemblies, or creative arts events.
Encourage students to develop confidence, creativity, collaboration, and leadership through the performing arts.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, and student progress.
Complete reports and documentation within required timelines.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
Attend staff meetings, conferences, professional development sessions, and school events.
Uphold school policies and professional expectations.
Qualifications:
Essential
Bachelor's degree in English, English Literature, Drama, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
Recognized teaching qualification or teaching license.
Minimum of two years' teaching experience, preferably within the IB Middle Years Programme or another international curriculum.
Demonstrated experience teaching English Language & Literature and Drama at secondary level.
Strong understanding of IB philosophy, inquiry-based learning, concept-based curriculum design, and MYP assessment practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multicultural international school environment.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
Native English speaker (required to meet current Moroccan work visa requirements).
Preferred Qualifications:
IB professional development in MYP English Language & Literature and/or MYP Arts (Drama).
Experience working in an international school environment.
Experience supporting an IB authorization or evaluation process.
Experience directing student drama productions or performances.
Experience with interdisciplinary planning.
Confidence integrating technology into teaching and learning.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Occasional Saturday commitments for school events, professional development, or other activities as required.
Participation in meetings, parent conferences, professional development, and co-curricular activities.
