Description of Position:

Planète Montessori International School is seeking a dynamic and experienced IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator to lead and strengthen our PYP, while supporting the coherent growth of our IB continuum. As an IB PYP-authorized school, we are committed to high-quality inquiry-based learning grounded in the IB philosophy and enriched by Montessori principles.

The ideal candidate is an inspiring educator with strong PYP experience, a passion for student agency, and a commitment to building a collaborative culture that supports the holistic development of every learner.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of the IB PYP, ensuring alignment with IB philosophy, standards and practices, and school policies.
Lead and support programme development, including the Programme of Inquiry (POI), unit planning, conceptual understanding, and approaches to learning (ATL).
Coach teachers in inquiry-based teaching and learning, transdisciplinary planning, assessment, and differentiation.
Support the implementation of the PYP framework, including agency, action, and the development of the IB Learner Profile.
Ensure consistent, high-quality assessment practices (formative and summative), documentation of learning, and reporting to families.
Coordinate and lead collaborative planning meetings, professional learning, and instructional coaching cycles.
Guide and mentor teachers in the development of learning environments, including best practices aligned with Montessori and IB expectations.
Support students and families by promoting clear communication about the PYP, learning goals, and school expectations.
Serve as the main liaison with the IB for PYP matters, documentation, programme evaluation processes, and required submissions.
Collaborate closely with school leadership and other programme coordinators to ensure vertical alignment and a strong continuum of learning across the school.
Willingness to cover classes as a substitute as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Teaching certification/license.
Previous experience teaching in the IB PYP and/or serving as a PYP Coordinator (preferred).
Strong knowledge of IB standards and practices, the PYP framework, and concept-based, inquiry-driven pedagogy.
Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.
Fluency in English required (French and/or Arabic is an advantage).
