Brief Description of Position:
The Village School is seeking a highly qualified High School Computer Science Teacher to deliver rigorous and engaging instruction that develops students’ computational thinking, problem-solving abilities, and real-world application of technology.
The successful candidate will:
Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote computational thinking, programming proficiency, and systems design.
Design coherent sequences of learning that build algorithmic reasoning, data analysis skills, and software development practices.
Teach programming languages relevant to secondary Computer Science (e.g., Java, Python, or similar).
Use formative and summative assessment to guide instruction and provide meaningful, actionable feedback.
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students new to programming and advanced coders.
Maintain high expectations for academic rigor, classroom culture, and digital citizenship.
Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues regarding student progress and well being.
Participate actively in professional learning and contribute to extracurricular activities such as robotics, coding clubs, or STEM competitions.
Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values in all interactions.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Teaching certification or equivalent professional training.
Strong pedagogical understanding of biology instruction, laboratory design, and assessment.
Demonstrated expertise in secondary-level biology.
IB and/or AP experience preferred (e.g., IB Biology SL/HL, AP Biology).
