Job Title: Technology Integration Specialist for Grades Early School -12
Reports to: The Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning
Role Duration: 11 months, full time
Position Description:
Ashley Hall seeks a Technology Integration Specialist who will work with faculty and students to support
the purposeful implementation of mission-aligned instructional technology at the school. This position
will support faculty by developing and facilitating professional development, co-teaching and
co-planning for classroom applications of technology, and basic technical support for student end users
in the classroom. In addition, this position will support students by creating and implementing strategic
initiatives in digital citizenship, computational thinking, and leveraging innovative technology for their
academic success.
Position Requirements:
Faculty Support:
● Facilitate faculty use of the school’s Learning Management System (LMS)by providing training and ongoing support geared at multiple levels of technological literacy. This individual will provide a supportive culture that encourages faculty and students to utilize technology and promote innovation.
● Manage the roll-out of training modules to divisions: Create in person opportunities, virtual training videos, and written training manuals to help provide additional support.
● Assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students and where needed co-planning and co-teaching.
● Assist teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences which use a variety of research-based, learner-centered instructional strategies and assessment tools.
● Help teachers critically curate a variety of student-centered resources using digital tools so that students may construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts, make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others, communicate and collaborate effectively, and solve problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test
solutions.
● Support faculty by providing “in-the-moment” student support in the classroom to help faculty
implement the above learning experiences in a reassuring and encouraging manner.
Student Support:
● Promote and encourage the use of technologies in innovative ways to help students take an active role in choosing, achieving, and demonstrating competency in their learning goals.
● Assist students in using technology effectively for academic success by modeling, troubleshooting, and providing guidance on the use of technologies in purposeful and safe ways.
● Help students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artefacts, make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others, communicate and collaborate effectively, and solve problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions.
● Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal and ethical uses of digital information and technologies and promote digital citizenship.
● Facilitate student use of the school’s Learning Management System by providing training and ongoing support.
● Help students assume professional roles, research real-world problems, collaborate with others, and produce products that are meaningful and useful to a wide audience; emphasize creativity, higher-order thinking skills and processes; and differentiate for students, including adjusting content, process, product and learning environment based on student readiness levels, learning styles, interests and personal goals.
Technology Department Support:
● Assist all other technology staff of the school to implement the strategic and day-to-day instructional technology responsibilities.
● Develop and implement the strategy for use of our systems including training on systems, one-on-one assistance, and new system researching, and lead strategic instructional technology integration projects.
● Support the Ed Tech Ambassadors program by helping the program coordinator embed faculty in each department who can work with their division and with the ed tech department to build relationships and find innovative ways to meet division needs.
● Collaborate with school administration, including technology ambassadors in planning and implementation of professional development for faculty and learning opportunities for students throughout the school year including on-boarding training of faculty and students, tech tools, and strategies for instructional technology integration.
● Assist the tech team with end-user support of instructional technology tools and development of tutorials and guides for technology usage in the classroom.
● Collaborate with the Information Services and Data Management personnel on the seamless integration of the school’s Student Information System and Learning Management System.
● Collaborate with the registrar as needed to ensure the smooth delivery of student records.
● Attend division meetings as needed to roll out information to the school about tech policy, trainings, and new technology changes.
Strategic Partnerships and Future Ready Innovation:
● Meet with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching & Learning and Division Directors on a bi-monthly/monthly basis to facilitate communication, and provide support for the ed tech vision and goals of the school.
● Help division heads/ department chairs in monitoring faculty LMS pages for Standard Operating Procedure compliance.
● Build a shared understanding of the role of educational technology and innovation within the school to be able to evaluate and build-out goals–including the new ways in which technology is a part of pedagogy, community, and student life.
● Promote an environment that infuses the concepts of school/divisional specific goals and the trends in innovation and future-readying careers to create professional development for our faculty and staff and learning opportunities for our students.
● Develop other initiatives as identified by leadership to bring the community together for learning around future-readiness.
● Assist with SAIS accreditation regarding technology and curriculum.
● Participate in the hiring process of any individuals at the school who will have a partnership with the educational technology goals and strategies (e.g. library media specialists, innovations integrators, tech staff, and admin team).
Education/Experience:
● Candidates with a master’s degree in education (any specialization) and experience in school-based technology integration preferred.
● Ability to provide second-tier support for academic computing systems.
● Commitment to equity and justice, including knowledge and skills related to cultural
competencies.
● Excellent oral and written communications, listening, and interpersonal skills.
● Working knowledge of and experience with innovative pedagogy that makes use of digital
technologies.
● Though not a requirement, preference will be given to candidates who have successfully worked
within an International Baccalaureate framework.
