Description of School:

The International School Groningen is located in Haren, just south of the city of Groningen in the Netherlands.

The international school Groningen forms a separate part of the bilingual Dutch (mavo, havo, VWO) secondary school the Maartenscollege.

Both schools offer the IBMYP, and the international school also offers the IBDP in grades 11 and 12.

The international school Groningen has approximately 180 students from grade 7 to grade 12, the Maartenscollege has approximately 800 students from grade 8 to grade 12.

The schools are themselves part of a larger group of schools: the Stichting Carmelcollege.

Description of Position:

Teacher of Science (grades 6-10, age 11-16)

We have an opportunity for a qualified teacher of Science (Physics) and Mathematics from 01 August 2021.

We are looking for someone with a strong teaching pedagogy, and preferably with experience in the IB Middle Years Programme or an IB world school.

You must be able to teach Science (Physics) and Mathematics up to grade 10 and would be also willing to take a role in the school’s pastoral system.

The position is with an expectation of an approximate 0.7 contract, initially for one year. However, there may be opportunity to add a second temporary year leading to a permanent contract.

  • salary: scale LB according to the national work agreement, the CAO VO, (maximum €4301 gross per month for a full-time position)

  • laptop,

  • 6% bonus in December

  • 8% bonus in May

and, where appropriate,

  • a relocation allowance of maximum € 2500

In addition, part of the salary above a minimum threshold (up to 30% of total salary) remains tax-free for foreign hires during the first five years of employment in the Netherlands minus any periods you might have previously worked or resided in the Netherlands.
