Position
The Secondary School Principal is an experienced educator who is familiar with International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, principles, standards and practices, applicable to its Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The Principal shall work with minimal supervision, reporting directly to the Head of School, and serve as line manager for all Secondary faculty.
As a contributing member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Principal shall coordinate with the Primary School Principal to develop, oversee and evaluate a continuum of holistic after-school co-curricular activities, school-wide events, leadership opportunities, and behavioural expectations, with responsibility for Secondary students’ participation and contributions. The Secondary School Principal shall support, collaborate and communicate with the Pastoral and Wellbeing Coordinator to enhance a continuity of pastoral care and guidance for Secondary students and parents; to promote, and capture student co-curricular participation on ManageBac; and to ensure day-to-day smooth operations of the Secondary School.
Principle responsibilities for the Secondary School Principal are to support the Head of School to embody, articulate and deliver the School’s Mission; to coordinate the reflection, review and renewal of CIS and NEASC Standards and Indicators by organizing the school-wide self-study, involving all faculty and staff, and to ensure all School policies, procedures, practices and decision-making align with these governing principles.
As a dynamic, compassionate and effective leader, the Principal shall coordinate the Professional Learning Community, engaging Secondary faculty to pursue current research and apply its best practices; oversee holistic development and behavioural management expectations for Secondary students and faculty; and communicate on a timely, regular basis with faculty, students, parents and community stakeholders to ensure the smooth operations of the Secondary School.
The Secondary School Principal is expected to be an exemplary role model in the School community, embodying and articulating attributes of the IB Learner Profile, and fostering an affirming school culture which values creative thinking, innovation, inspired leadership, problem-solving, and open communications to address issues and challenges that may arise. The Secondary School Principal shall work closely with the Head of School, Senior Leadership Team and Academic Leadership Team to develop, articulate, implement and execute the School’s strategic plan and vision.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a teacher’s
certification;
2. Experience in leading MYP/DP Programmes
3. Must have a minimum of three (03) years’ experience in a leadership position;
4. CIS and NEASC experience will be viewed favorably;
5. Strong organizational abilities and initiative;
6. Educational or professional experience in a culturally diverse environment.
