Description of Position:



The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus is opening in September 2022 and looking for an experienced Secondary School Principal / MYP Coordinator.


We are in the process of planning our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site that will include kindergartens, elementary and high schools, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing school on the cusp of a major turning point.


Cyprus regulations require applicants to have a university degree in education and the ability to pass a background check.


Duties and Responsibilities

Administration:

  • Focus school community while implementing policies on education of the Republic of Cyprus, initiate and implement the MYP of the IBO.

  • Familiarize the school community with the national and the MYP policies.

  • Serves as the academic leader of the secondary and the MYP programs directly responsible for the general organization and efficient administration of such programs.

  • Assumes the responsibility for creating and maintaining a school culture indicative of a professional learning community.

  • Remains informed and supportive of all school policies and regulations.

  • Interacts with the Ministry of Education if needed and ensures all the required documentation is in place.

  • Works collaboratively with the administrative team, keeping everyone informed of activities and special events at the primary school level.

  • Plans and approves budget by submitting requests for instructional needs after careful analysis and collaborative discussions with teachers.

  • Develops a public relations programme in order to further the community’s understanding and support of the educational program.

  • Is responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing an effective programme for students in the school;

  • Supports curriculum review and the MYP planning processes.

  • Financial management:

  • Makes an accurate list of the school financial requirements relating to capital development, books, materials and supplies, maintenance needs, professional development and any other costs in preparation for the development of the annual school budget.

  • Acts as a liaison person between the business manager and the primary school faculty, as necessary.

  • Takes care of the school's material and financial resources.


Professional Development:

  • Coordinates the organisation of a programme of in-service training and support for teachers, which reflects the school’s mission, philosophy and aims.

  • Reviews teachers' lesson planning and classroom performance through classroom observations and personal interviews.

  • Evaluates each teacher’s performance through regular observations and written evaluation which is submitted to teachers, the deputy and the PYP coordinator.

  • Helps programme staff to recognize their strengths and exercising these through IB and school pathways.

  • oversee and coordinate official monitoring of all MYP subjects, the Personal Project, the E-assessment and all official review procedures and visits as well as the preparation and delivery of all aspects of the MYP curriculum at all levels.

  • Works closely with the DP Coordinator to support student learning.

  • Works closely with the PYP & DP Coordinator to empower continuum between programmes.

  • Implements MYP policy and strategic plans.

  • Is responsible for the integration of the IB Learner Profile across the MYP programme


We are seeking a candidate with the following required qualifications:


  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Educational Administration

  • Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate and its mission

  • Experience working with international accreditation (IB, CIS, etc.)

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to work with all stakeholders

  • Experience with creating and following a budget

  • Ability to work with a leadership team (IB coordinators) and to be open and inclusive

  • Fluent English; Greek language would be an advantage.
