Description of School:

Gjøvikregionen International School (GIS) is a young international school, which opened in August 2015. We have grown rapidly from 30 students in 2015 to over 170 students this academic year, with waiting lists in several grade levels. GIS is an IB World School authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme as well as the Middle Years Programme. Our goal is to prepare students to continue their education in the IB Diploma Programme at any IB school in the world, including Gjøvik High School.

Description of Position:

Secondary Principal reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Working closely with the Primary Principal and with the MYP Coordinator, the Secondary Principal will seek to promote long-term continuity of approach, educational philosophy and expectation, in line with the school’s mission and vision. Correspondingly, the Secondary Principal is expected to oversee the implementation of academic programmes and to monitor staff and student performance.

The position includes a teaching component. The current post holder teaches MYP Science (integrated) but we may be able to consider candidates with background in other subject areas.

Desired qualifications:

  • A degree in education

  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership position (middle management or above)

  • IB MYP experience

  • Valid IB MYP training

  • IBEN role(s), ideally a school visitor for the IB.
