Founded in 2009, International School of Hellerup is a not-for profit IB Continuum World School in Copenhagen offering IB Programmes from Pre-K - Grade 12.

We are looking to employ a caring, skilled and effective school counsellor to join our

school in the PYP (Pre-K -5th grade).


Experience/Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in school counselling or related field

  • At least 2 years working with Primary school children, including Early Years

  • Experience collaboration with International School Counselling Association

  • (ISCA)/Standard, and/or Danish municipality and health services

  • We are looking for a candidate who will provide the following:

  • Counselling Services:

  • Provide social-emotional support to PYP students on an individual, group or

  • class basis, with a structured and targeted approach, based on identified needs

  • Utilises assessment results to create and implement individualised plans of care

  • which outline goals, present levels of performance, frequency and duration of

  • service delivery as well as venue and format of service delivery i.e., Resource

  • Room (small group/1:1 sessions) in class support, or support in social settings

  • outside of the classroom.

  • Attends academic or behaviour intervention plan meetings and speaks to the

  • progress of therapeutic services offered as well as continuation/termination of

  • service and/or referral to external partners.

  • Participates in other assignments regarding the development of the department

  • when required.

  • Make referrals for students and parents to outside agencies and specialists

  • Participate as part of the Student Welfare Team, to ensure the school’s Child

  • Protection Policy is delivered.

  • Planning and documentation:

  • Contributes to the development of academic intervention plans (AIPs) and/or

  • behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) for students receiving therapeutic services.

  • Maintains electronic record of service delivery which includes the administration

  • of periodic evaluations/assessments.


Collaboration:

  • Communicates student progress to parents regularly, to learning support

  • teachers during the academic and behaviour intervention plan review periods,

  • and class teachers as needed. Shares all progress communications with the

  • SENCO.

  • Advises SENCO of the need to refer students to external partners prior to making

  • referrals and informing parents.

  • Collaborates with school staff and parents to educate them on pertinent programs,

  • strategies, inclusion arrangements based on current evidence-based practices in

  • accordance with the school’s policies (particularly the school’s Inclusion Policy)

  • and the enhanced Primary Year Program (PYP) teaching and learning practices.
