Brief Description of School:

IAS has existed since 1989. It is a K-12 school situated in the affluent and leafy suburb of Kabaty, Warsaw and was one of the first schools in Poland to receive accreditation as an IBO World School.

It prides itself on a family-like atmosphere with an active Student Council contributing significantly to the everyday life of the school. Students are treated with respect and everyone has a voice.

The school is composed of 35+ nationalities and an almost equal split of female/male students. IAS takes international mindedness very seriously, as is fitting of a school with a diverse cultural base. Discursive classrooms are highly encouraged as a way to allow these voices and inquiry to breathe and create shared meaning. With applied critical thinking skills, students will be able to effectively observe and continually enrich the world in a meaningful, principled and reflective manner.

IAS promotes a student-centered learning that requires demonstration of various engagements including experiential learning (fieldwork, trips), oral presentations, small group project work, creative thinking display boards in corridors and, above all, critical thinking skills as evidenced by all of the aforementioned. We understand teachers to be facilitators of learning and so actively discourage a front-end classroom.
