Mingdao High School is an esteemed private school with a rich tradition in Taichung City, central Taiwan. In June, 2018 the Mingdao High School International Department (MDID) was authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, becoming the first IB World School in Taichung City. MDID was subsequently authorized to offer the IB Middle Years Programme in January, 2019. MDID courses are primarily offered in English, with supporting instruction in Mandarin Chinese where necessary.

Description of Position:

MDID seeks faculty members who share the IB philosophy to mould lifelong learners. Previous IB experience is ideal, but not mandatory. Some knowledge about the IB, MYP and DP are absolutely essential, though.

Description of Position:

  • Provide a central role in learning how to access and work with information in response to inquiry through student instruction and guidance.

  • Assist classroom teachers with respect to resource access for their individual needs.

  • Proactively work with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction.

  • Communicate with classroom teachers to assist with suggestions as to how the regular curriculum can be differentiated to meet the student’s needs.

  • Provide student assistance through learning support in language, learning habits, goal-setting, and self-advocacy, among other possibilities.

  • Communicate with the staff related to the progress of the students getting support.

  • Serve as the liaison between resource centers within and outside the school.

  • Work with a team of English Language Acquisition teachers in identifying student English language levels and helping them improve their proficiency.

  • Work with MYP Personal Project Coordinator and DP Extended Essay Coordinator to help shape the students’ inquiry process and further develop their critical and analytical skills.

  • Provide targeted support to students for each of the assessment criteria, including the formation of goals, selection of appropriate resources.

  • To liaise with the Academic Department over subject specific book stock, book lists and recommendations.

  • Manage acquisitions, processing, organizing, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of resources. Keeping an appropriate working environment in the Library.
