Description of School:


The Maartenscollege/International School Groningen is located in Haren, just south of the city of Groningen. There are efficient travel facilities both in the locality and to and from Schiphol airport. The school is part of a large group of schools: the Stichting Carmelcollege.


The Maartenscollege offers bilingual education to 800 Dutch national students while the International School Groningen provides an English language education to approximately 200 students aged between 11 and 18. All departments run the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme to the first five years (age 11-16), followed by either Dutch national examination tracks or the Diploma Programme in the final two years (age 16-18).


Description of Position:


Teacher of Economics (individuals and societies) within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (35%) and Diploma Programme (65%)


The position is a temporary position, with potential to become permanent with a teaching load of approximately 0,7 fte (70%)


Criteria:

The successful candidate:

  • is a highly dynamic and motivated teacher who can differentiate in a mixed ability setting

  • is an experienced and qualified* teacher, willing to work within the International Baccalaureate (IB) MYP and/or DP programmes

  • has an awareness of the needs of an intercultural environment

  • is interested in taking an active role within the international school


*We are only able to consider qualified teachers with a European (or equivalent) teaching qualification for the subject recognised by the Dutch Government (a DUO recognition)


Package:


Conditions of employment follow the collective bargaining agreement called “CAO VO”.

Salary: scale LB (top of scale € 5329 gross per month)


Extra’s:

  • Moving allowance of up to € 2500

  • Settling in allowance of approximately € 5000

  • 6% bonus in December

  • 8% bonus in May

  • excellent pension arrangement

  • personal budget of 50 hours per year for extra leave or task reduction

  • work-related travel reimbursement

  • up to one full year of paid sick leave

  • The part of the salary above a minimum threshold (up to 30% of total salary) remains tax-free for foreign hires during the first five years of employment in the Netherlands.
