We are looking for IB Teachers across multiple disciplines who are experienced, reflective practitioners who use an inquiry-based approach within the IB framework to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge learners to become self-regulated leaders and independent thinkers.
Harlem Village Academies High, the only IB Diploma Programme school in Harlem, is seeking engaging and experienced applicants to teach in the school’s expanding IB For All program. Every student at HVAH is on-track to participate in five or more IB classes, as we work to prepare all our Juniors and Seniors to become full-IB diploma candidates. Develop and teach highly engaging, academically rigorous lessons, aligned with HVA’s standards, curriculum and progressive pedagogical philosophy
Invest several hours per week in professional learning, including personalized instructional coaching, lesson study, co-planning, book study groups and other learning work
Inspire students to hold themselves to high standards of academics and character
Establish and uphold classroom routines to ensure a focused, safe and caring environment
Analyze assessment data and use it to inform and differentiate your instruction
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student mastery of standards
Maintain close relationships with families, including phone calls and conferences
2-3 years of relevant teaching experience required, 5+ years of teaching experience preferred
IB experience or certification preferred (not necessary)
A commitment to developing progressive pedagogy is essential
Strong track record of student achievement in your past teaching
Ability to create a class environment in which students feel safe, supported and challenged to engage deeply in meaningful work
A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement • Unshakeable conviction that all students can learn at a high level
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $104,000, and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final salary may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications. HVA is committed to providing our team with a range of benefit offerings at a competitive value.
