Zibo Shiyan High School International Division (ZSHSID) is part of the prestigious Zibo Shiyan High School. We are a special place with a mission to be something different. Sitting in the heart of Shandong Province, China, in the wonderful city of Zibo we are a unique school with a clear mission. We are a beacon of international education and the only IBDP school in the city and were the first state school accredited by the IBO in the whole of Shandong Province.

Role and Responsibilities:


As a science teacher:

  • Teach one of the science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) at both Standard and Higher levels.

  • Deliver engaging and effective science lessons to students, promoting a deep understanding of scientific concepts.

  • Develop and implement curriculum plans aligned with IB standards and the school's objectives.

  • Utilize a variety of strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and foster student engagement.

  • Conduct practical laboratory experiments and demonstrations, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.

  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.

  • Supervise students’ Extended Essays in your subject.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades.

  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and critical thinking.

  • Stay updated with advancements in scientific research, technology, and teaching methodologies.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and promote cross-curricular connections.

  • Actively participate in professional development activities, both within the school and externally, to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.


As the Head of Science Department:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Science department.

  • Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring compliance with IBDP science requirements.

  • Mentor and support science teachers, fostering their professional growth.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, providing feedback and implementing improvement strategies.

  • Stay updated with current trends and best practices in science education, incorporating innovative methodologies into the department's practices.

  • Establish strong partnerships with parents, engaging them in their child's science education and providing timely feedback on their progress.

  • Coordinate and lead departmental meetings, collaborative planning meetings and professional development sessions.

  • Collaborate with the school's leadership team in decision-making processes, contributing to the overall development and success of the institution.

  • Act as a role model for students and staff, exemplifying professionalism, integrity, and a passion for continuous learning.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science.

  • Experience teaching science at a high school level (e.g., American AP, A level, or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with the IBDP science curriculum is preferred.

  • Strong command of scientific concepts and effective communication skills.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development, including external training and in-house programs.


Preferred Candidate Profile:

  • Passionate about science education and dedicated to inspiring students.

  • Competent in teaching at least one of the science disciplines, including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

  • A master’s degree or above is preferred but not essential.

  • Enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, contributing to the overall success of the school.

  • Exhibits a student-centered approach, prioritizing individual growth and fostering a positive learning environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to provide guidance and support to fellow Science teachers.
