International School of Hellerup is looking to employ an energetic and flexible Early Years
pedagogue to join our Early Years Team and the After School Care Programme (ASCP) every
day Monday-Friday 8.30am-4pm (90%).
The role of the Early Years pedagogue (for children aged 3-6 years old) is to facilitate and
support the learning engagements, routines and transitions in both school hours and in the
After School Care Programme. The candidate should demonstrate a holistic, play-based
approach that integrates socio-emotional, physical and cognitive development within the
framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
The position will require the candidate to have or be:
Fluent in the English language (Danish is an advantage but not a requirement)
Ability to work in an internationally minded environment
Commitment to the educational philosophies of the IB
Able to work flexibly and collaboratively with all members of the school community
Qualifications and/or experience in the Early Years are an asset
The main job requirements are:
Collaborate on planning learning engagements with the teacher.
Reinforce lessons by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbance, learning
disorder, speech problem or other special needs, and discuss observations with the
teacher.
Help prepare for lessons by getting materials ready or setting up equipment.
Help supervise students in class, during lunch and recess, and on field trips.
Reinforce school and class essential agreements providing consistency throughout the
day (in class, in transitions and in after school care).
Support students during lunchtime, toileting and washing activities.
Provide a safe and caring environment, growing students independence and supporting
Social Emotional Learning
General knowledge of the Danish Børnehave Læreplan is an advantage
