The Director of Teaching and Learning will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO and, at times, working closely with teaching staff as well as other members of the Senior Management Team.

The main role is to monitor, evaluate and develop the curriculum, the teaching, and the assessment practices across the whole school to ensure consistency across all grades. For newly hired staff, the Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for designing and delivery of an effective induction program. The school is now fully accredited by the IB to provide the PYP programme.

B. Requirements:

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education

  2. Must have a Master's degree in Elementary school administration or equivalent

  3. Valid Teacher Certification

  4. Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience

  5. Minimum of 5 years of IB experience in a leadership role

  6. Must be bilingual (English & Arabic)

C. Work Schedule:

  1. Sunday to Thursday

  2. The school has the right to call the employee to work and for professional development on weekends as necessary. The salary package includes compensation for works done over weekends

E. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders

  2. Lead the school’s Leadership Team and staff to develop short-term and long-term strategic plans, conduct periodical reviews to ensure meeting established KPIs

  3. Issue annual school performance report

  4. Facilitate budgetary requests for trainings and curricular materials to the Board of Directors

  5. Think strategically/analytically, and create and manage systems translating plans into action

  6. Review performance evaluations and develop and oversee the execution of CPD programs to continually improve teachers’ performance

  7. Continuously monitor student achievement by analyzing assessment reports and working with the

  8. teachers to develop proper intervention plans for individual and group and other data points in order to target interventions

  9. Work with the teachers to set students’ academic performance goals for each grade level to set

  10. measurable student goals in individual classes

  11. Work with Leadership Team and staff to develop and improve policies

  12. Ensure that the school’s policies are adhered to in respect of teaching and learning

  13. Ensure IB requirements are met by assisting in the development of transdisciplinary units, POI revisions, scope and sequence documentation, assessment documentation, Exhibition guidelines, and the integration of ATLs

  14. Work closely with the ICT team and other staff in ensuring that technology plays a vital role in the delivery of the curriculum;

  15. Ensure adequate resources are available for teachers to implement the IB program

  16. Participate in teacher recruitment and hiring process, in collaboration with the hiring committee

  17. Respond in a timely manner to messages marked as urgent related to messages marked as urgent matter, be it through email or WhatsApp messaging, on both daytime and “off duty” work including weekends, response should be as immediate as possible.

  18. All other school communication must be acknowledged immediately and addressed within the same day

  19. Other duties as required
