Description of Position:

An exciting opportunity for Assistant Head of Sports and CCAs has opened in AIS for January 2022 start. If you are someone who is driven in making a positive difference and with passion for growth and development, this role is meant for you!

Position Expectations

  • To manage the strategic planning and operations of the AIS Sports and CCA Department from Pre-K to 12

  • To manage the co-ordination of high-level calendar planning with each sub-school and outside organisations, taking into account facilities and staff availability

  • To oversee the project management and co-ordination for all major sporting events hosted by AIS

Position Requirements

  • Recognised four-year teaching qualification, including a Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Diploma, or a Bachelor of Education, or equivalent; Higher tertiary qualification will be considered favourably;

  • Identifiable, high order time management and organisational skills;

  • Demonstrated record-keeping and administrative skills, particularly in a school setting;

  • Consummate communication skills; capacity to articulate the focus of the position and that of the School to students, colleagues, parents and wider audiences;

  • Evidence of team building and conflict resolution skills in complex environments;

  • Ability to work after hours on weekdays and on some weekends where required;

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of MS Outlook, Office, Excel and PowerPoint;

  • Ability to communicate effectively via a variety of means – especially electronic – within a large organisation.


  • Experience as a Head of Sport/Deputy Head of Sport a distinct advantage;

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification, with human movement emphasis a distinct advantage;

  • Demonstrated capabilities to forge, and work within, a unified team;

  • Experience and knowledge of current practices in the field of Sport and Activity Programs in school settings across:

  • Student athlete issues

  • Management and appointment of coaching staff

  • Administrative budgeting and finance

  • Sport procedures and practices

  • Event and trip management

  • Occupational Health and Safety

  • Risk Management

  • Facility Management and Maintenance.
