Hout Bay International School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, and a Cambridge Examinations Centre (CIE) offering the IGCSE. Description of Position:
The High School IB Co-Ordinator leads both the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme across all subject areas in the High School, supporting teachers to develop and implement an intellectually rigorous curriculum. In order to model exemplary IB instruction, the Co-Ordinator also teaches in the programme part-time. This is an ideal role for an experienced IB teacher who is looking to grow in a critical school leadership role.
Key duties include:
Plan and execute the delivery of all aspects of the IB programme, including MYP & DP training, assisting with unit planning, and other professional development
Teach a part-time course load
Serve as liaison between the International Baccalaureate and the School, including coordinating and facilitating the programme assessments and examinations
Serve as liaison between the Primary and High Schools, ensuring alignment with the IB across the whole school
Work with the Head of School and the Director of Administration to develop and implement the IB budget
Establish working relationships with local, regional and global IB world schools
A Bachelor’s Degree and teaching qualification
Fluent or native English speaker
Extensive experience of teaching the IB Curriculum at MYP & DP level
Knowledge of all the principles and components of the IB Diploma Programme
Ability to lead an academic team in programme design, implementation, and evaluation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong organisational ability and initiative
Excellent interpersonal skills
