for students ranging across varying needs and abilities and prioritizes student wellbeing with the ARIS Wellbeing Model.


We strongly encourage our students to learn foreign languages, exposing them to different cultures and different linguistic systems, enabling an informed awareness of diversities and similarities in the global community. We currently offer Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, German, Hindi, and Local Languages.


With over 50 nationalities, our students learn to recognize and grow from their cultural roots. We believe that intercultural understanding and interpersonal competencies are essential to modern life and that learning from others is an integral part of forming one's identity.


As an institution that highly encourages collaboration, we include parents of our community in the approaches to teaching and learning. Through applications and software such as ManageBac, Seesaw and School Stream, parents are given a constant update on the learning progress of their children and of all school activities.

ARIS Campus

ARIS operates on two different campuses -Primary located in Spintex and Secondary located in East Legon- ARIS Primary campus will join the Secondary as of January 2021.

ARIS has around 550 students with 50 nationalities in Early Childhood to Year 13 and a team of 156 employees with 17 nationalities.


ARIS is registered in Ghana as a non-profit making limited company. The Board is composed of representatives chosen by GSIER.



ARIS is an IB World School offering all three programmes: The IB Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) school was authorized in April 2016. In May 2019 ARIS was authorized to offer the Middle Years Programme (MYP). In May 2015 we were authorized to offer the full IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), completing the final two years of the students' secondary level education, prior to university. Additionally, ARIS is also an IBCP Candidate.


Faculty and Staff

The academic faculty of ARIS is almost as diverse as the student population, with Facilitators on ARIS Campus recruited mainly from Ghana and worldwide.

The Senior Management Team is made up of the Director, both Heads Schools, the Finance Manager, the Admin & HR Manager and Communication and Manager. The Learning leadership Team is made up of both Head of Schools, the three programme coordinators, the Head of Personalized Learning Department (PLD) and the Coordinator of Educational Technology.

The Position

MYP Coordinator reporting to the Head of School and in charge of the academic care of students, and will be in charge of the pedagogical leadership and management of all aspects of learning and teaching in the Secondary school (Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11), particularly those identified in the School’s Strategic Plan.


Job Description




• To teach a 40% workload as agreed with the HOS and the Director.

• Carry out any other appropriate duties as directed by the HOS

• Serve as a member of Learning Leadership Team (LLT)





The MYP Coordinator should:

  • Have previous experience in a leadership position within a Secondary/Middle School.

  • Have previous successful experience with International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme

  • Hold an advanced degree

  • Be familiar with MYP evaluation, and CIS accreditation processes

  • Demonstrate strong team leadership and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to enhance the collaboration and partnership between staff, students, parents and the wider community to ensure support and alignment of all stakeholders towards shared school goals

  • Be community-oriented and motivated to involve the full range of the school community - staff, students and parents in the management and development of the Secondary School at ARIS Secondary campus

  • Be sensitive towards, and familiar with, a diverse range of student learning needs

  • Be sensitive towards cross-cultural issues and understanding

  • Demonstrate success modelling of the ARIS values and characteristics.


Curriculum Development:


  • Ensure that copies of IBO MYP publications are available to all staff.

  • Maintain a record of completed planners.

  • Participate in the development of the school's educational strategy.

  • Analysis of MYP assessments

  • Keep up-to-date with educational research and best practice

  • Assume the responsibility for the administration of the MYP curriculum

  • Document Scope and sequence

  • Ensure the development of unit planners in Managebac

  • Make sure documentation is kept well organized in Managebac

  • Mapping of Approaches to Learning and Global Contexts

  • Work closely with the HOS to implement/drive pedagogical change and organize formal procedures in preparation for moderation, certification and program authorization and evaluation

  • Attend faculty collaboration meeting, arrange and lead workshops with colleagues as required.

  • Attend collaboration meeting with PYP and DP coordinator focusing on the IB continuum

  • Oversee teaching and learning in the school and monitor the work of facilitators to ensure curriculum is delivered effectively to all pupils

  • Implement baseline testing, collect data and review tracking and monitoring measures

  • Conduct lesson observations (non-scheduled) and learning walks

  • Oversee arrangement for controlled assessments and coursework

  • Oversee arrangements for reports

  • Oversee and improve school marking, monitoring and assessment

  • Oversee arrangement for controlled assessments and coursework

  • Oversee, introduce and support study support/ study clinics/ study buddies

  • Coordinate and manage prep time

  • Provide guidance and support to staff to implement the MYP, including developing their units, using the MYP planner and using a diverse set of assessment strategies

  • Support teachers and students in preparing for the MYP Personal Project.


Professional Development:


  • Ensure that staff is made aware of professional development opportunities.

  • Identify professional development needs and opportunities on and off campus.

  • Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits.

  • Lead the orientation of new teachers into the MYP.

  • Encourage professional growth, including making recommendations regarding training opportunities on and off campus, and working with leadership team to determine Professional Development priorities

  • Support teaching staff in developing their understanding of MYP planning, preparation, teaching, learning and assessment.

  • Meet with staff on a scheduled basis to provide support in teaching, assessing and learning.Develop in-service structures for new team members

  • Develop and facilitate ‘in-house’ workshops for staff to ensure implementation of best practicesConduct lesson observations (non-scheduled) and learning walks

  • Resource Management:

  • Assist and encourage the building up of resources to support the units of inquiry

  • Identify, with students, worthwhile activities within and outside the school and allow students to engage in varied, challenging and meaningful activities both inside and outside school

  • Planning the MYP in cooperation with the HOS including; strategic and action planning, allocation of resources and establishment of priorities to ensure continuous program improvement.

  • Assist the HOS in identifying resource needs





  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all staff members.

  • Conduct parent information sessions.

  • Publish articles pertaining to the programme in the school newsletter.

  • Circulate all relevant information received from the IBO.

  • Prepare and submit documentation required for authorization and evaluation.

  • Ensure that all requirements of the IBO concerning the programme are met.

  • Act as the liaison between the school and the IBO.

  • Provide outreach to the wider MYP community through OCC discussion forums, e-mail and school visits.

  • Establish/maintain links with other MYP schools in the region.

  • Involvement in the network of MYP Coordinators in independent schools

  • Establish links with local community in and around Accra

  • Oversee the 3 way conference and parent consultations with the Facilitators

  • Advise and guide parents on curriculum issues

  • Coordinate the receiving option choices from parents and pupils and disseminate information to teaching staff


Salary and Benefits

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, housing, flight allowance every 2 years, medical coverage, tuition for dependent children, relocation allowance and professional development.
