The School of Young Politicians (SYP-1306) is a Russian state school located in the Western administrative district of Moscow, Russia. It is currently one of the first state schools in Eastern Europe to conduct the IB continuum programme alongside the national curriculum. The students have a rare opportunity to receive two Diplomas, both IB and Russian. 

 

The students, aged between 3-17, are children from 44 nationalities. This fact provides for a very international environment that ensures cultural diversity and an ethos of tolerance as well as open-mindedness beneficial to the educational process.                 

 

The school sees its mission as raising holistic life-long learners who care about the world around them. Therefore we offer a wide range of subjects and rigorous assessment as well as a huge variety of extra-curriculum activities such as choir, ballroom dancing, sport dancing, drama classes in English and Russian, robotechnics as well as many others. The school also offers many unique activities as monthly meetings with distinguished people who have achieved public recognition in various fields of life - writers, musicians, philosophers, sportsman, entrepreneurs etc.

 

During its seventeen years the school has been nominated for numerous awards and prizes. A recent special independent survey published in Tatler magazine named our school "unique". It offers a happy, productive environment for children to learn.

 

 

This is a full time position for an IB PYP COORDINATOR - 50% teaching load. 

 

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

 

The International Baccalaureate Coordinator is a key institutional academic leader with primary responsibility for oversight and administration of SYP’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. The PYP Coordinator collaborates closely with the Head of School, Associate Head of School, Director of Studies, Registrar, Director of Professional Development and Evaluation, academic department heads, and PYP teachers to ensure that implementation of the PYP Diploma Program is in alignment with IB standards and expectations, and also with the school’s academic mission and curriculum.

 

Key areas of responsibility include provision of vision, leadership, and administrative support and supervision of IB curriculum, pedagogy, and faculty; budgetary oversight of IB expenditures; support and guidance to students and their parents, ensuring that their experiences with the program are positive. In addition, the PYP Coordinator will serve as an institutional spokesperson on IB-related matters.

 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, with preference for a Master’s degree in an academic field taught at SYP or in education administration or a related discipline.

  • A minimum of five years of successful professional experience with the IB PYP is required.

  • The ability to teach an IB class at SYP is highly desired.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in pedagogy and mind, brain, and education research.

  • Strong communication skills both in writing and oral presentation.

  • A high degree of organization, efficiency, and initiative.

  • Enjoyment of and respect for young people and the ability to address students’ needs.

  • The ability to lead by example in a community that expects collegiality and open communication.

  • Ability to articulate and tactfully handle inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff.

  • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends are required.

  • Proficiency with both MAC and PC systems (specifically Word and Excel for Windows) and with database programs.

 

Qualifications:

 

Essential

 

  • Degree in relevant teaching area

  • IB certificate for workshops / on-line PD

  • Teaching qualification in secondary education

 

  

EXPERIENCE

 

Essential

 

  • Experience teaching primary School level

  • Experience as PYP Coordinator

 

 

Desired

 

  • Experience with the IB PYP evaluation process

  • Using ManageBac, preferably in an administrative role

  • knowledge of enhanced PYP is preferred 

 

  

Desired Qualifications for Teaching Positions:

 

Criteria:

 

  •  Graduate of accredited colleges and universities 

  • At least three years teaching experience

  • Completed at least one IB-recognized workshop

  • Knowledge of current teaching methodologies, curriculum, state standards, and performance assessments.

  • Willingness to work on a grade-level team and collaborate with all staff.

  • Possess excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with parents.

  • Assessment Literate and values the use of data to drive Instruction 

  • Collaborative and willing to engage in professional learning communities.

  • Differentiates and engages students

  • Utilizes effective instructional strategies

  • Technologically Proficient

 

  

Other Responsibilities:

 

  • Actively participate in all IB in-school workshops

  • Participate in the events related to IB (parent meetings, exhibitions, open door evenings etc.)

  • Write articles, participate in IB promotion projects

  • Be open to collaborate and share, give master classes

  • Participate in pedagogical meetings, PYP collaboration weekly meetings, subject group and PYP year meetings
